Once wearable devices were placed, patients performed the mobility protocol that included body posture tasks (standing, sitting, and lying) and the timed up and go (TUG) [18] mobility test.
During the body posture tasks, patients were asked to lie down, sit on the edge of the bed, and then stand with or without support for 5 minutes. The time spent in each body posture was observed and recorded by a physiotherapist.

In this regard, one of the most used classifications distinguishes PD with predominant features of tremor (ie, tremor dominant [TD]) or gait, posture, and balance issues (ie, postural instability and gait disorder [PIGD]) [26-28] based on subitems scores of the Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) and its revision by the Movement Disorder Society (MDS-UPDRS) [32].

Posture was measured using a variety of methods designed to identify areas of postural deficiency. Specifically, for general posture, standing height was measured in two ways using a stadiometer (SECA 213) while participants were instructed to (1) “stand as you normally do” and (2) “stand as tall as possible.” Both measurements were taken at the top of the breath cycle.

In contrast, a person with hemiparesis, characterized by muscle weakness on one side of the body due to brain injuries or stroke, may exhibit an asymmetric posture, resulting in an imbalanced or tilted position. We refer to the term “best-at-the-time posture” to describe the optimal posture achievable by a hemiparetic patient, considering their motor limitations (we use the term “correct posture” interchangeably). The goal is to achieve the highest level of alignment and balance possible.

Overall, the study objectives were to (1) develop a data cleaning procedure for a large inpatient Vi Si posture monitoring dataset with a duration of 1 year, (2) consolidate posture codes into categories, (3) derive concise summary statistics from the continuous monitoring data, and (4) study types of patient posture habits using summary statistics of posture duration and transition frequency.

Forward head posture (FHP), characterized by the head jutting forward and shoulders rounding, is a prevalent consequence of modern lifestyles that involve extended periods of using laptops, mobile devices, or driving. Achieving optimal posture—where the spine maintains a neutral alignment with the gravitational line passing through the acromion and tragus—ensures stability and good postural health [1]. Deviations from this alignment, as seen in FHP, can place undue stress on the cervical spine.

The actual test started with 5 seconds of standing still in an anatomical posture. When starting, the speed was gradually increased toward the speed obtained from the 10-meter walking test and once achieved, the participant was asked to walk for 3 minutes at that speed. After 3 minutes, the treadmill was slowed down and the participant was asked to stand again for 5 seconds in an anatomical posture.

Along the continuum of these previously published studies, we hypothesize that flow might be involved in the duration of posture maintenance in the context of VR Pilates. Therefore, we have conducted this study to assess the efficacy of VR Pilates in improving the duration of posture maintenance and its ability to promote a significantly higher degree of flow compared to traditional Pilates among typical healthy adults.

In the manufacturing industries, tasks requiring excessive force, poor posture, high repetition, and long duration, which induce fatigue and which are stressful, lead to an increased risk of MSDs [4,6,7]. The consequences of WMSDs have a significant and wide-ranging financial impact on both the social and individual levels [8]. In Europe, about 3 of every 5 workers report MSDs.
