For participants in the PD group, an appointment is arranged at the APM, while control group participants attend a meeting at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. During these sessions, the study’s objectives, procedures, and expectations are thoroughly explained to ensure participants have a comprehensive understanding of their role and responsibilities.

Patients will be recruited from an outpatient tertiary clinic specializing in treating patients with NCFB at Hospital das Clínicas, Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo-Brazil. The Hospital Research Ethics Committee of the University of São Paulo approved the study (approval 3.008.886). All participants will provide written informed consent prior to data collection.

Recently, HIV prevalence was estimated at 10% in a respondent-driven sampling–based study among young MSM aged 18‐24 years in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil [6]. The safety and efficacy of oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (Pr EP) with emtricitabine plus tenofovir disoproxil fumarate in reducing the risk of HIV acquisition [7-10] and the relationship between Pr EP adherence and protective efficacy have been well demonstrated [11-13].
