A Deep Learning–Enabled Workflow to Estimate Real-World Progression-Free Survival in Patients With Metastatic Breast Cancer: Study Using Deidentified Electronic Health Records

A Deep Learning–Enabled Workflow to Estimate Real-World Progression-Free Survival in Patients With Metastatic Breast Cancer: Study Using Deidentified Electronic Health Records

Median rw PFS and survival probabilities were descriptively analyzed to quantify variations introduced by missing records. (2) The impact of treating death as a progression event versus censoring was assessed by generating Kaplan-Meier curves under both scenarios. Differences were evaluated using the log-rank test, with comparisons of median rw PFS and survival probabilities at predefined time points.

Comparison of Electronic Surveillance With Routine Monitoring for Patients With Lymphoma at High Risk of Relapse: Prospective Randomized Controlled Phase 3 Trial (Sentinel Lymphoma)

Comparison of Electronic Surveillance With Routine Monitoring for Patients With Lymphoma at High Risk of Relapse: Prospective Randomized Controlled Phase 3 Trial (Sentinel Lymphoma)

This has increased survival rates in some cases (locally advanced lung cancer) [10]. e PROMs affect early event detection and overall survival in patients with cancer [11-15]; however, such evidence is lacking for patients with lymphoma. In this study, we compare the effect of web-based follow-up with that of standard follow-up. We conducted an open-label, longitudinal, prospective study between July 12, 2017, and April 7, 2020, at 14 centers in France.

Comparative Evaluation of Effectiveness of Standard of Care Alone and in Combination With Homoeopathic Treatment in COVID-19–Related Rhino-Orbito-Cerebral Mucormycosis (ROCM): Protocol for a Single Blind, Randomized Controlled Trial

Early detection, aggressive management of the underlying condition, surgical debridement, systemic and local antifungal treatments, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy significantly improve prognosis and survival rate [15]. The standard treatment for mucormycosis involves correcting diabetic ketoacidosis or other metabolic disturbances, daily irrigation and packing of the affected orbital and paranasal areas with amphotericin B, along with intravenous amphotericin B therapy [16].

Predictive Value of Frailty on Outcomes of Patients With Cirrhosis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Predictive Value of Frailty on Outcomes of Patients With Cirrhosis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

In addition, one study explored the relationship between frailty and outcome in patients with cirrhosis, but it only demonstrated that frailty can predict liver transplant-free survival; the risk of other complications remains unknown [19]. There are still limited systematic reviews and meta-analyses on the prognostic value of frailty in patients with cirrhosis.

Applications of Augmented Reality for Prehospital Emergency Care: Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials

Applications of Augmented Reality for Prehospital Emergency Care: Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials

Innovations in prehospital care have led to improvement in patient outcomes over the past several decades, including a reduction in early deaths following traumatic injuries and improved survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest following early initiation of basic life support (BLS) procedures [1-5]. However, there remain significant challenges to providing high-quality prehospital emergency care, especially in resource-limited settings.

Perceptions in 3.6 Million Web-Based Posts of Online Communities on the Use of Cancer Immunotherapy: Data Mining Using BERTopic

Perceptions in 3.6 Million Web-Based Posts of Online Communities on the Use of Cancer Immunotherapy: Data Mining Using BERTopic

Immunotherapy offers substantial benefits in terms of precision, specificity, and long-term survival improvements, representing a significant breakthrough in cancer treatment [3]. Immunotherapy has made remarkable progress and demonstrated clinical value. However, there are drawbacks that may hinder its clinical use and acceptance by patients with cancer. One notable limitation is the variability in individuals’ responses to immunotherapy.

Effectiveness of Gastric Cancer Endoscopic Screening in Intermediate-Risk Countries: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Effectiveness of Gastric Cancer Endoscopic Screening in Intermediate-Risk Countries: Protocol for a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Diagnosis at an advanced stage and the aggressiveness of the disease result in a 5-year survival rate of between 20% and 40% [4]. In contrast, early-stage GC has an excellent prognosis, with a 5-year survival rate of greater than 90%, and can often be treated with minimally invasive and organ-sparing techniques such as endoscopic resection [5]. Therefore, early detection of cancer greatly increases the chances of successful treatment. The 2 components of cancer screening are early diagnosis and screening.

Survival After Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer: Development of a Fair Machine Learning Model

Survival After Radical Cystectomy for Bladder Cancer: Development of a Fair Machine Learning Model

While several predictive models have been developed to predict survival in patients with bladder cancer [10-12], the performance of these models among different population subgroups remains understudied. Predicting survival is an important component in counseling patients with bladder cancer given the relatively high mortality rates in this disease [13,14]. The use of a potentially unfair model may perpetuate and even exacerbate existing disparities for vulnerable patient populations.

Reinforcement Learning to Optimize Ventilator Settings for Patients on Invasive Mechanical Ventilation: Retrospective Study

Reinforcement Learning to Optimize Ventilator Settings for Patients on Invasive Mechanical Ventilation: Retrospective Study

Although general improvements in ICU outcomes and changes in ventilation practices over time would positively affect the model in the training process, the proposed BCQ model would automatically learn from the good practices and avoid bad practices to achieve the best long-term return, which is the survival of the patients. Proposed EZ-Vent framework. We collected data on ventilated patients from EHR and trained a policy to recommend optimal ventilator settings. EHR: electronic health record.

Five-Feature Models to Predict Preeclampsia Onset Time From Electronic Health Record Data: Development and Validation Study

Five-Feature Models to Predict Preeclampsia Onset Time From Electronic Health Record Data: Development and Validation Study

The log-rank test is a significance test in survival analysis, with the null hypothesis that 2 groups have identical distributions of survival time. Any log-rank P value below .05 is considered statistically significant in these analyses. Feature importance was evaluated in the Cox-PH model by their HR P values. HR describes the relative contribution of a feature to the patient’s PI.
