Metasynthesis makes it possible to draw conclusions from a wide range of primary studies that may focus on the same phenomenon from different perspectives using diverse qualitative methodologies in different contexts. Hence, metasynthesis can contribute to knowledge construction by revealing new insights from a detailed analysis of a broad range of findings [24].

The aim of the study was to conduct a metasynthesis of all qualitative studies exploring the use of ICTs by people with mood disorder. The resultant metasynthesis created an analytical typology of findings and a descriptively themed framework, which conceptualized how people with mood disorder use and relate to their ICTs, and in so doing, answered the specific review questions.
