Third, we conducted a portfolio analysis to determine National Cancer Institute (NCI)–funded grants that involved dyads. We identified the types of dyads sampled, the purpose and specific aims, outcomes, and the constructs and measures used in these studies. Fourth, we engaged in a survey development process in which we asked experts to identify and refine our survey measures.

Technology Use Among Older Adults and Their Caregivers: Cross-Sectional Survey Study
Our study sought to further our understanding of how the use of technology by caregiver and care recipient dyads can guide intervention outlets (eg, digital platforms) and support efficient deployment of the technology interventions, including expanded access and use of technology functions. Therefore, technology use was broadly defined in this study to enable research into the use of diverse types of devices and functions. Devices and functions represent different aspects of technology use.

The primary goal of the pilot was to test the feasibility of MY-Skills among dyads experiencing persistent pain. MY-Skills is a standardized and progressive intervention that offered yoga and health education in 120-minute sessions (2 times per week for 8 weeks) via Zoom (Zoom Video Communications Inc) videoconferencing from October 2020 to June 2021. The yoga component was based on our prior studies [18] and was further developed specifically for dyads with persistent pain (Multimedia Appendix 1).

Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the feasibility of a 2-wave intensive longitudinal data collection protocol designed to measure digital media use (ie, mobile phones and tablets), physical activity, sleep, sedentary behavior, and socioemotional context among caregiver-child dyads. The entire study protocol was administered twice (both instances being an average of 7 months apart) to examine the feasibility of recruiting and retaining a cohort willing to complete the protocol multiple times.

Dyadic Psychosocial eHealth Interventions: Systematic Scoping Review
Eligible studies enrolled dyads of care recipients and support persons. The care recipient is a person who has an identified mental, behavioral, or physical health condition. The support person provides informal, unpaid care to the care recipient. Dyads are defined by existing, personal relationships like kinship or friendship, meaning that dyads of care recipients with a formal, trained health care provider (eg, their physician or an assigned trained peer mentor) were excluded.

We used data from an electronic medical record database review, a caregiver survey study, a health care provider focus group, and key informant input from experts in epidemiology, psychology, and pediatric weight management to inform development of the 10-week, multimodal intervention for parent-adolescent dyads.
