Census-Dependent Mortality of Ventilated Patients With COVID-19 in Israel: Noninterventional Observational Cohort Study

Census-Dependent Mortality of Ventilated Patients With COVID-19 in Israel: Noninterventional Observational Cohort Study

Mild disease was defined as laboratory confirmation in combination with mild symptoms (fever, cough, weakness, and loss of taste and smell). Moderate disease was defined as laboratory confirmation together with pneumonia (clinical or through imaging).

Development of an App for Symptom Management in Women With Breast Cancer Receiving Maintenance Aromatase Inhibitors: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

Development of an App for Symptom Management in Women With Breast Cancer Receiving Maintenance Aromatase Inhibitors: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

Our study will use the definition of symptoms from the National Institutes of Health and the National Cancer Institute: “A physical or mental problem that a person experiences that may indicate a disease or condition. Symptoms cannot be seen and do not show up on medical tests. Some examples of symptoms are headache, fatigue, nausea, and pain” [26].

Automated Messaging Program to Facilitate Systematic Home Blood Pressure Monitoring: Qualitative Analysis of Provider Interviews

Automated Messaging Program to Facilitate Systematic Home Blood Pressure Monitoring: Qualitative Analysis of Provider Interviews

Programs that are automated may have superior utility provided they are effective in engaging patients in systematic HBPM and supporting disease self-management. Still, designers must consider barriers to engagement with technologically based HBPM programs, particularly among older, rural, and other disadvantaged communities. Automated communication programs using mobile phones to link patients and their providers have shown promise [14-18], including among underserved populations [19-22].

Comparing a Data Entry Tool to Provider Insights Alone for Assessment of COVID-19 Hospitalization Risk: Pilot Matched Cohort Comparison Study

Comparing a Data Entry Tool to Provider Insights Alone for Assessment of COVID-19 Hospitalization Risk: Pilot Matched Cohort Comparison Study

This study will establish a new method to facilitate and enhance clinical decision-making of patients with COVID-19 and will provide greater insight into the effectiveness of using a point-of-care data entry tool to apply a disease risk algorithm. In March 2020, Emory Healthcare created a Virtual Outpatient Management Clinic (VOMC) for nonhospitalized adult patients with COVID-19 in Atlanta, Georgia, offered to all Emory Healthcare patients who screened positive for COVID-19.

Characteristics Associated With Telemonitoring Use Among Patients With Chronic Heart Failure: Retrospective Cohort Study

Characteristics Associated With Telemonitoring Use Among Patients With Chronic Heart Failure: Retrospective Cohort Study

This progressive chronic disease affected more than 64 million people worldwide in 2017 [1]. As the leading cause of hospitalization for patients older than 65 years, HF puts significant pressure on the limited resources of health care systems, such as health care personnel and budgets [2]. Currently, many developed countries spend 1% to 2% of their health care budgets on this disease [3]. Furthermore, the prevalence of HF is expected to rise due to increased survival rates and an aging population [1].

Hot Topic Recognition of Health Rumors Based on Anti-Rumor Articles on the WeChat Official Account Platform: Topic Modeling

Hot Topic Recognition of Health Rumors Based on Anti-Rumor Articles on the WeChat Official Account Platform: Topic Modeling

Based on the results obtained and the keywords for each topic, we were able to classify the rumors into the following 8 topics: (1) prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, (2) disease therapy and its effects, (3) food safety, (4) cancer and its causes, (5) regimen and disease, (6) rumors of transmission, (7) healthy diet, and (8) nutrition and health. Figure 3 shows the intertopic distance map, where each topic is represented by a circle.

Examining Public Awareness of Ageist Terms on Twitter: Content Analysis

Examining Public Awareness of Ageist Terms on Twitter: Content Analysis

During the earlier part of the pandemic, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention cautioned older adults against traveling while the rest of the public was urged to “go out and resume spending” [9]. There is a false sense of security for younger members of our society because “COVID-19 is life-threatening, but mostly for the older adults and those with underlying conditions” [10]. This perspective propagates ageism, which impacts everyone in due time as no one can avoid aging.

Patterns and Trends in Mortality Associated With and Due to Diabetes Mellitus in a Transitioning Region With 3.17 Million People: Observational Study

Patterns and Trends in Mortality Associated With and Due to Diabetes Mellitus in a Transitioning Region With 3.17 Million People: Observational Study

The urbanization process in Pudong has substantially impacted the disease spectrum. Considering that other transitioning regions are likely to undergo similar urbanization processes, insights into the burden of DM and trends in DM-related mortality in Pudong can inform the management and planning of health care services in these regions in the future [8]. Without sufficient studies on disease-related and specific deaths, estimating the true burden of a disease is challenging [9].

Prescribing Patterns of Dupilumab for Atopic Dermatitis in Adults: Retrospective, Observational Cohort Study

Prescribing Patterns of Dupilumab for Atopic Dermatitis in Adults: Retrospective, Observational Cohort Study

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects US children and adults, with a reported prevalence of 10%-13% and 7%, respectively [1-4]. Higher disease severity is associated with lower quality of life, worsened mental status, and higher use of health care resources [1,5]. This includes emergency department visits and hospitalizations as well as increased pharmaceutical and outpatient costs [6-8].

Web-Based Video Education to Improve Uptake of Influenza Vaccination and Other Preventive Health Recommendations in Adults With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Randomized Controlled Trial of Project PREVENT

Web-Based Video Education to Improve Uptake of Influenza Vaccination and Other Preventive Health Recommendations in Adults With Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Randomized Controlled Trial of Project PREVENT

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), including both Crohn disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), are chronic, relapsing inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal tract associated with substantial morbidity [1,2], missed work and school [3,4], and diminished quality of life [5,6]. IBD management often consists of immunosuppressive medications to treat ongoing inflammation.
