Perivascular Adipose Tissue Inflammation and Coronary Artery Disease: An Autopsy Study Protocol
Atherosclerosis is the main cause of cardiovascular disease deaths [4], and it is a chronic disease that can evolve into acute events related to vasospasm, thrombosis of advanced plaques, and embolism. The progression of atherosclerosis may be accelerated by inflammation [5]. Inflammation of the epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has been linked to coronary artery disease (CAD) pathophysiology.
