Barriers and Enablers to Young People’s Posting, Responding, and Reading Behaviors on Mental Health Forums Using the Behavior Change Wheel: Qualitative Study

Barriers and Enablers to Young People’s Posting, Responding, and Reading Behaviors on Mental Health Forums Using the Behavior Change Wheel: Qualitative Study

Adolescents’ beliefs about the helpfulness of advice or interventions can significantly affect their likelihood of seeking support; for example, they may avoid seeking help if they have doubts about its effectiveness [68]. An empirical study of a web-based mental health community intervention also found that the quality and effectiveness of responses influenced young people’s behavior in creating posts to seek help online [69].

Ultraprocessed Foods Associated With Depressive Symptoms Among Chinese Adolescents: Cross-Sectional Study

Ultraprocessed Foods Associated With Depressive Symptoms Among Chinese Adolescents: Cross-Sectional Study

Recently, mental health problems among adolescents have become a widespread concern [3] and are a main disease burden for adolescents [4]. Adolescence is a peak period for mental health problems [5]. Depression is the primary cause of disability in adolescents [6]. Depressive symptoms are the most common psychopathological symptoms in adolescents and significantly increase self-injury risk (odds ratio [OR] 2.19, 95% 2.03-2.36) and death by suicide (OR 2.67, 95% CI 1.72-4.14) [3].

Exploring the Use of Digital Technology to Support Health Behavior Change in Young People Under the Care of Complications of Excess Weight (CCEW) Clinics: Qualitative Patient-Centered Design Study

Exploring the Use of Digital Technology to Support Health Behavior Change in Young People Under the Care of Complications of Excess Weight (CCEW) Clinics: Qualitative Patient-Centered Design Study

However, adolescents face multiple barriers to successful and sustained behavioral change [11]. While CEW clinicians aim to support young people and their families to overcome these barriers, this support is only provided during scheduled clinic appointments. Digital technology is now an integral component of nearly all young people’s lives [12].

WhatsApp-Based Coaching Program to Support Smoking and Vaping Cessation Among Young People: Pre-Post Study on Acceptance and Preliminary Efficacy

WhatsApp-Based Coaching Program to Support Smoking and Vaping Cessation Among Young People: Pre-Post Study on Acceptance and Preliminary Efficacy

Despite the well-documented health risks, many young people, that is, adolescents and young adults, start smoking or experiment with smoking. In Switzerland, 27% of men and 21% of women are regularly smoking tobacco, with the highest prevalence rate of 30% among young adults between the ages of 20 and 24 years [4].

Internet-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Children and Adolescents With Dental or Injection Phobia: 1-year Follow-Up Assessment

Dental fear and anxiety (DFA) is widespread, affecting approximately 24% of all children and adolescents [1]. Determinants of Health-Promoting Behaviors Among Indonesian Adolescents Living in Child Welfare Institutions: Cross-Sectional Survey Study

Determinants of Health-Promoting Behaviors Among Indonesian Adolescents Living in Child Welfare Institutions: Cross-Sectional Survey Study

Higher scores indicate better HPBs among adolescents. The overall Cronbach α was 0.86 in this study. Health literacy refers to adolescents’ ability to seek, understand, evaluate, and use health information to make informed decisions about their health. The Health Literacy Assessment Scale for Adolescents [31], consisting of 15 items, was used to measure health literacy. Behavior Change Strategies in Digital Exercise Interventions for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: Scoping Review

Behavior Change Strategies in Digital Exercise Interventions for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis: Scoping Review

Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a 3 D spinal deformity [1,2] that primarily affects adolescents aged 10 to 18 years [3]. AIS has an overall prevalence of 0.47%-5.2% and is more common in girls, with a female-to-male ratio ranging from 1.5:1 to 3:1, which increases with age and curve severity [4,5]. It can result in cosmetic deformities, respiratory dysfunction, functional limitations, and negative impacts on quality of life and mental health [3,6].

Effects of a Board Game on Tic Management and Psychosocial Functioning in Adolescents With Tourette Syndrome: Randomized Controlled Trial

Effects of a Board Game on Tic Management and Psychosocial Functioning in Adolescents With Tourette Syndrome: Randomized Controlled Trial

However, whether board games can improve tic and psychosocial functioning in adolescents with TS remains unclear. Parents’ understanding of and attitudes toward TS influence how they educate their children about symptom management [32]. Parental evaluation is especially crucial for adolescents with TS, as it often mirrors the adolescents’ concerns about their future [33].
