In addition, those trained to deliver the program will use a person-centered perspective to support the unique needs of the participants, such as for participants who are francophone, living in a rural place, or a new immigrant to Canada.
We have chosen to name the program the Advocacy Intervention for Women in Midlife and Older, and we will use the acronym AIM to refer to the intervention. The AIM intervention has 2 components: an empowerment component and a social support component.

However, a longer life span does not necessarily mean living longer in good health [3,4]. It is well-established that at a population level, the prevalence of chronic diseases and disabilities increases with age [4]. As a result, attention has shifted from a focus on increasing life spans to healthy aging, an approach that emphasizes the quality of life and functional ability, not just living longer [4].
