As executive and memory functions are most responsive to exercise in intervention trials with older adults [14], we created executive and memory composite scores by converting raw scores into z scores based on the entire sample, and then averaging across z scores for the following tests: Executive composite scores: Trail-Making Test part B minus Trail-Making Test part A (scores were reversed before averaging to reflect higher scores=better performance), Stroop Color Word Trial, and verbal fluency FAS Test Memory
