An Acti Graph accelerometer validation study showed that walking at a speed of >3.2 km/h or >100 steps/min fulfilled the criteria of MVPA, which is 3 metabolic equivalents in older people [17,18]. Therefore, brisk walking is a feasible form of physical activity for older people to enhance their MVPA.
