Adding Mobile Elements to Online Physical Activity Interventions for Adults Aged Over 50 Years: Prototype Development Study

Roughly, the applied systematic approach was divided into a 6-step prototype development phase, a 2-step effect evaluation phase, and a 2-step implementation phase, which is shown in Figure 1. In this paper, the prototype development and pilot-testing of the interventions is described.

Adding Mobile Elements to Online Physical Activity Interventions Targeted at Adults Aged 50 Years and Older: Protocol for a Systematic Design

Adding Mobile Elements to Online Physical Activity Interventions Targeted at Adults Aged 50 Years and Older: Protocol for a Systematic Design

Active Plus is a web-based computer-tailored intervention program to promote PA among people aged older than 50 years [11,15]. Preceded by a questionnaire comprising questions on factors such as current PA levels and perceived PA beliefs and barriers, a computer-tailoring program generates and sends personalized advice, tips, and exercises based on these responses.

An eHealth Intervention to Promote Physical Activity and Social Network of Single, Chronically Impaired Older Adults: Adaptation of an Existing Intervention Using Intervention Mapping

The international guideline for physical activity (PA) recommends that one should be physically active with moderate to vigorous intensity for at least 5 days a week with a minimum of 30 min a day [1]. Regular PA reduces the risks of multiple health problems, such as chronic diseases. For individuals with preexisting health problems, being sufficiently physically active may be accompanied with more barriers but can still result in an improved health and in a reduced risk of developing comorbidities [1,2].

Development of Web-Based Computer-Tailored Advice to Promote Physical Activity Among People Older Than 50 Years

Development of Web-Based Computer-Tailored Advice to Promote Physical Activity Among People Older Than 50 Years

An international guideline for physical activity recommends that older adults should be physically active at moderate to vigorous intensity for at least 5 days a week, for a minimum of 30 minutes a day [4,5]. Regular physical activity is also particularly important for older adults to enable them to maintain their mobility and independence; to improve muscle strength, cognitive functioning, and mental and emotional well-being; and to prevent falls [2,4-8].
