Objectively Measured Smartphone Use and Nonsuicidal Self-Injury Among College Students: Cross-Sectional Study

A total of 16,169 (97%) were Han ethnicity, 8993 (54%) from rural, and 4940 (29.6%) from single-child families (Table 1). Notably, 627 (3.8%) reported committing NSSI during the past month. Overall, the mean smartphone screen time was 48.8 (SD 28.8) hours per week, and the mean number of smartphone unlocks was 271.6 (SD 291.0) times per week.
