In VCI, participants send the research team multimedia messages (eg, photos and textual descriptions of work) during or soon after completing the work [43]. These multimedia messages allow for nearly real-time observation of tasks and serve as a cognitive aid during the postobservation interview [46,47]. As with in-person contextual inquiry, in VCI, data collection is structured across 3 phases: before, during, and after observation.

PRISM’s efficacy has been shown via improved resilience, health-related quality of life, and mental health outcomes for adolescents and young adults with serious illnesses, including cancer, type I diabetes, and cystic fibrosis [18-21]. Although CBT and other evidence-based psychological strategies have strong evidence supporting their use in the treatment of pediatric chronic pain [22], the use of a resilience framework and resilience coaching has not been formally examined among youth with CMP.

However, most evidence on the efficacy of gamification approaches in promoting free-living PA comes from studies involving typically developing young people, with a lack of rigorously designed empirical studies involving autistic populations [18]. Financial incentive–based apps have also emerged as a viable strategy for increasing PA and reducing sedentary time, particularly for individuals with low motivation for voluntary behavior change [19].
