Lessons Learned From the Integration of Ambient Assisted Living Technologies in Older Adults’ Care: Longitudinal Mixed Methods Study

Lessons Learned From the Integration of Ambient Assisted Living Technologies in Older Adults’ Care: Longitudinal Mixed Methods Study

Because social distancing protocols implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic have given impetus to an already growing trend in the adoption of AAL technologies [15,16], we believe that work theorizing the processes by which AAL technologies become routinely embedded in the care of older adults is both timely and relevant. Thus far, 3 distinct bodies of literature on AAL technologies have emerged: technical, human, and integrative perspectives [17].

Insights on the User Experience and Feasibility of an Electromyography-Driven Exergame Combined With Blood Flow Restriction for Strength Training in Hospitalized Older Adults: Mixed Methods Randomized Controlled Feasibility Study

Insights on the User Experience and Feasibility of an Electromyography-Driven Exergame Combined With Blood Flow Restriction for Strength Training in Hospitalized Older Adults: Mixed Methods Randomized Controlled Feasibility Study

Both of these studies highlight the potential of an EMG-driven exergame but also indicate the need for more research into its effectiveness in rehabilitation. This study investigates an EMG-driven exergame combined with evidence-based principles of BFR training for strength training in a hospital environment.

Internet-Based Interventions for Preventing Premature Birth in Preconceptional Women of Childbearing Age: Systematic Review

Internet-Based Interventions for Preventing Premature Birth in Preconceptional Women of Childbearing Age: Systematic Review

It poses significant health risks for both mothers and infants, including long-term health complications and increased health care costs [2]. Despite advancements in prenatal care, premature birth rates remain high, and socioeconomic disparities exacerbate these risks [3]. Preconceptional health is pivotal in determining pregnancy outcomes, underscoring the importance of targeted interventions before conception [4].

Smartphone- and Tablet-Based Tools to Assess Cognition in Individuals With Preclinical Alzheimer Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment: Scoping Review

Smartphone- and Tablet-Based Tools to Assess Cognition in Individuals With Preclinical Alzheimer Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment: Scoping Review

A total of 14% (5/37) of the tools (ASRT [49,50], BRANCH [51], FACEmemory [59,60], PAL [48], and UCSF-BHA [90-93]) were examined in both individuals with preclinical AD and individuals with MCI. Thus, most tools were investigated in individuals with MCI (34/37, 92%), and fewer tools were examined in individuals with preclinical AD (8/37, 22%).

Innovative Digital Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia Disorder in Adults (dCBT-i): Framework Development

Innovative Digital Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Insomnia Disorder in Adults (dCBT-i): Framework Development

Studies have shown that 70% to 80% of patients respond positively to CBT-I, with about 50% of patients showing a clinically meaningful reduction of symptoms, while remission was attained by approximately 40% of patients receiving CBT-i and outcomes were often improved at the 6-month follow-up for both response and remission [7,9-12].

Development and Pilot Testing of an Addiction Clinic–Based Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Uptake and Adherence Intervention for Women with Substance Use Disorders: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Trial

Development and Pilot Testing of an Addiction Clinic–Based Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Uptake and Adherence Intervention for Women with Substance Use Disorders: Protocol for a Pilot Randomized Trial

Inequities experienced by women, including relationship power and control differentials and physical or sexual violence, further influence women’s engagement in both the risk behaviors that increase their likelihood of contracting HIV as well as the potential preventive measures. To adequately address the syndemic effect of substance use, HIV, and trauma [7], interventions must be specifically developed for the unique needs of this population.

A Method for Custom-Contoured Cushion Fabrication Based on Pressure Mapping for Wheelchair Users to Prevent Pressure Ulcers: Feasibility Quasi-Experimental Study

A Method for Custom-Contoured Cushion Fabrication Based on Pressure Mapping for Wheelchair Users to Prevent Pressure Ulcers: Feasibility Quasi-Experimental Study

For both groups of participants, anthropometric measurements and wheelchair dimensions were collected to evaluate their suitability. Then, the procedure explained in the “Pressure data collection” section was conducted: First, the pressure maps of the user-cushion interface with a polyurethane foam (R-90) of 35 mm thickness were recorded for 10 minutes. Then, the same procedure was repeated with the Jay X2 (gel-foam) and ROHO high profile (air) cushions.

Domain-Specific Evaluation of Exergame Metrics Among Older Adults With Mild Neurocognitive Disorder: Secondary Analysis of 2 Randomized Controlled Trials

Domain-Specific Evaluation of Exergame Metrics Among Older Adults With Mild Neurocognitive Disorder: Secondary Analysis of 2 Randomized Controlled Trials

Recent systematic reviews support the use of exergame-based training for improving both physical and cognitive performance in individuals with m NCD. However, studies in this field exhibit high heterogeneity, which weakens the strength of the evidence [15,16,40-42].

Hospitalization and Mortality in Brazilian Children and Adolescents Due to COVID-19: Retrospective Study

A retrospective, observational study was performed to analyze the medical records of all patients diagnosed with COVID-19 who were hospitalized at Hospital de Base and the Infant and Maternal Hospital of São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo, Brazil, from March 2020 to July 2023. All patients diagnosed with COVID-19 by reverse transcription–quantitative polymerase chain reaction and admitted to these hospitals were included in this study.

Evaluation of the Digital Support Tool Gro Health W8Buddy as Part of Tier 3 Weight Management Service: Observational Study

Evaluation of the Digital Support Tool Gro Health W8Buddy as Part of Tier 3 Weight Management Service: Observational Study

Treatment and prevention of obesity have been identified as a priority both from an NHS and a wider economic perspective, with a clear focus from the Office for Life Sciences on obesity as one of its health care missions [4]. The public health and economic burden of obesity is considered a worldwide epidemic requiring urgent action. A tiered approach to weight management exists in the United Kingdom.
