Analyses were done with R (v4.2.2, R Foundation for Statistical Computing).
This study was approved by the University of Otago Human Ethics Committee (reference: HD22/064). Participants were users of a commercially available app who consented to their anonymized data being used for research purposes through the app’s privacy policy. All data were deidentified before analysis. No compensation was provided for participation.

We used R (version 12.1.402; R Foundation for Statistical Computing [34]) and Microsoft Excel (Microsoft Corp) for data analysis and matching. The boundaries of the final complete sociocentric-like fuzzy network were only those participants enrolled in the N2 cohort study and did not include those individuals that participants may have named as being in their social networks.

For studies reporting central tendency and spread in quantiles, we estimated the arithmetic mean and the SD performing the maximum likelihood approach [51] using the R (R Foundation for Statistical Computing) package estmeansd [61]. Subsequently, we imputed missing SDs using a meta-regression model with squared compliance rate as a predictor [8] (refer to Imputation of Missing Sampling Variances in Multimedia Appendix 3).

All analyses were conducted using the brms and Ro BMA packages in R (version 4.3.1; R Foundation for Statistical Computing).
We identified 1214 records from English-language databases and 1691 records from Chinese-language databases published between January 1, 2004, and September 30, 2021. Of these 2905 records, after removing 371 (12.77%) duplicates, 2534 (87.23%) were screened by title and abstract, and a total of 141 (4.85%) records were included in the full-text screening.
