Use of Indigenous-Based Methodologies to Enhance the Understanding of Local Context in Ugandan Communities: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

Interview transcripts will be analyzed using conventional content analysis and the Indigenous method of 2-eyed seeing developed by Mi’kmaq Elder Albert Marshall [32]. The process of 2-eyed seeing is defined as a metaphor for negotiating between 2 cultures, where one eye is grounded in Indigenous (in this case, Ugandan) knowledge, whereas the other eye is grounded in Westernized knowledge to allow multiple perspectives to be better recognized for their own value [32].
