The Evaluation of a Web-Based Intervention (Deprexis) to Decrease Depression and Restore Functioning in Veterans: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

The Evaluation of a Web-Based Intervention (Deprexis) to Decrease Depression and Restore Functioning in Veterans: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Depression is a significant problem for US military veterans, with 13% of post-9/11 war veterans meeting criteria for current MDD [6] and 46.5% of female veterans and 36.3% of male veterans meeting criteria for lifetime MDD [7]. The high prevalence of depressive symptoms in veterans not only has negative ramifications for social and interpersonal functioning, occupational participation, and quality of life [8] but also markedly increases the risk for suicide.

Public Mass Shootings: Counterfactual Trend Analysis of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban

Public Mass Shootings: Counterfactual Trend Analysis of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban

Koper and Roth [27] and Post et al [33] are exceptions, which focused on the number of public mass shootings. However, Koper and Roth [27] tempered their FAWB research findings “because the ban’s long-term effects could differ from the short-term impacts revealed by this study.” To that end, this study extends our prior research to examine the association between the FAWB and public mass shooting events.

Updated Surveillance Metrics and History of the COVID-19 Pandemic (2020-2023) in the Middle East and North Africa: Longitudinal Trend Analysis

Updated Surveillance Metrics and History of the COVID-19 Pandemic (2020-2023) in the Middle East and North Africa: Longitudinal Trend Analysis

This study provides updates of traditional surveillance data and dynamic panel estimates from the original study by Post et al [8,52,53,64-66]. The “speed” of spread of the pandemic is the rate of new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population. Novel metrics go beyond speed to add acceleration, jerk, and 1- and 7-day persistence measures. Acceleration is the difference in speed from one week or day to the next.
